MAR MEDITERRANEA: The staging converted the Olympic Stadium into the Mediterranean Sea. The appearance of a gigantic Hercules leads men to a victory over the forces of evil. To celebrate the triumph a city is founded, symbol of all the cities in the world. According to legend this settlement was called Barcelona. The victory was accompanied by two mosaics created in the grandstands with the collaboration of 10,000 spectators. The music was composed by Ryuchi Sakamoto. The Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games was celebrated on 25th July 1992 with more than 65,00 people watching it in the stadium and 3,500,000,000 watching it on television. This production was the audience's favourite part of the whole ceremony.
